A tiny hidden gem of a beach, Playa de Bonhome is tucked away behind the southern side of the breakwater that forms part of the sheltered marina at El Puntal. Due to the breakwater and the high walls surrounding it, it's often a wonderfully warm and windless suntrap!
I find that there's something very peaceful about this place. It has a special, reserved kind of feel about it, especially at low tide when the rowing boats sit quietly on the silty sand. It's not a beach that we ever choose to go swimming at, largely due to the slightly unnerving squishiness of the silt between the toes, but it's very much a place for quiet reflection and for taking a moment to unwind.
With its views towards the Asturian hills rising to the south and east, this spot ranks highly in my private list of local sources of inspiration!
