73 x 54cm
Mixed media using gold leaf on canvas
This is the second piece in my Tiktaalik series. It is the continuation of my artistic exploration into ways of representing the sense of age-old permanence superimposed with the understanding that landscapes that I love are continually changing and evolving. I wanted to find a way to show "What was", represented by the outline of the mountain, now completely eroded by eons of weathering and "What is", in the form of gentle hills and valleys, still being gradually reshaped by repeated cycles of rain, dusty wind, sun and ice.
This original composition uses a unique combination of copper leaf, acrylic and watercolour paints and pastels on a 1.6cm deep, gallery wrapped canvas. It is protected from dust and UV light by a thin layer of varnish. The sides are painted black, giving this artwork a highly contemporary finish. Framing is not required.
The artwork is signed on the front and provided with a certificate of authenticity.
